This hands-on class format reinforces skills proficiency. The BLS Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics. This Course is expected to take about 3 hours to complete.
*Mandatory AHA student manuals are included in this cost. This is a requirement of the AHA.

HeartCode BLS uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, e-simulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students BLS knowledge and skills. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on skills session. With this course you must complete an online portion prior to coming to the class. Your student manual is included online with the purchase of the Heartcode course. This American Heart Association course is designed for persons who wish to become CPR instructors for Healthcare Provider and Heartsaver courses. You must have a current provider status in the discipline of the AHA Instructor course (BLS or Heartsaver), and be proficient with those skills. An Instructor Candidate Application will be completed prior to class. You will need to choose an American Heart Association Training Center to request alignment with. Information for this will be provided during training. Certification is good for two years and requires at least four courses to be taught in the two year period. You must complete the BLS Instructor Essentials Online module prior to the start of this course.
It is recommended you also purchase Instructor Training Manuals for reference during the Essentials module, and to use in the classroom. A link will be provided for these purchases after registration is complete.
Please print and bring your certificate of completion of the BLS Instructor Essentials Online to class. You will not be allowed to attend without this document.
Online and Skills Session
Midwest Save a Life, LLC will gladly come to your location to perform on-site training. We require a minimum of six students. Upon scheduling, we require a minimum deposit of 50% of the total cost of training. The remaining balance of the invoice must be paid no later than 3 days prior to the date of service. Class will be cancelled if payment is not received by this time. There are no exceptions to these terms (such as net 30 days for payment). Once the registration fee has been received NO REFUND will be given.
You can reschedule within 48 hours of the onsite training, but please be advised that you can only reschedule your training one time. If the onsite training is cancelled by you, you will not receive the deposit back. Also be aware that group discounts are given based on the number of students originally accounted for by the client. If fewer students than expected are present for the class, Midwest Save a Life, LLC will not issue a refund for those missing students. We can issue a credit for those students (see “student reschedules” policy).
Any locations that require travel beyond 60 miles of our Clinton, Iowa office will require a minimum of eight students and will incur travel fees as follows: $50 for distances 61-100 miles from our location and $80 for anything that is 100-200 miles from our location. We do offer classes beyond the 200-mile radius, but additional expenses will be incurred which may include hotel accommodation for an overnight stay. These fees will be discussed and agreed upon prior to invoicing.
In cases of emergency (weather, illness, etc.), if Midwest Save a Life, LLC cancels a scheduled class, then an offer of a reschedule within 60 days will be made. If rescheduling is not possible, Midwest Save a Life, LLC will consider a partial or full refund depending on the circumstances.
Students must notify us 24 hours prior to the scheduled class to be eligible for a reschedule (special circumstances will be considered). To reschedule, you must contact us at 563-219-1910. If we are unable to answer at the time you call, please leave a voicemail and we will return your call at our earliest convenience. If contact is not attempted prior to class, the student will be considered a NO SHOW and no credit will be given. For students that need to reschedule, a $25 rescheduling fee must be paid prior to rescheduling and that student will have to attend the make-up session at our office located at 415 S 2nd Street, Clinton, Iowa at a time that is convenient for the instructor and student. Students may only reschedule once, and this must take place within 60 days of the original class date.
We recommend that students arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of class. Classes generally start right on time. Due to the nature of the training, ANY student (this includes management) that is more than 10 minutes late for class will be considered a NO SHOW and will not be allowed in the training session. No shows will be required to pay a $25 reschedule fee if they choose to reschedule (see reschedule policy). No refund will be given for no shows.
If a charge is placed in dispute by the student or cardholder because the student or cardholder did not recognize /recall this charge, the student is responsible for a processing fee of $25.00 in addition to the original charge due on the transaction.
Students are responsible for the correct spelling of their own name. A student roster is given at the beginning of each class and students much check to make sure their name on the roster is correct. If the student fails to notify the instructor at the time of class that the name is spelled incorrectly, Midwest Save a Life, LLC will not be responsible for the misprinting of the card. A replacement fee of $15 will be charged to the student prior to correction and replacement of the card.
